    Description

    This is an envelope signed by two American politicians.
    These two men were members of
    Congress, serving
    as United States
    Senators from the state of Missouri.
    The two senators who signed this envelope were:
    (1)
    Stuart Symington
    (1901-1988)
    Symington was a United States Senator for four
    terms,
    from 1953 to 1976. He was also the first
    United States Secretary of the Air Force, holding
    that office from 1947 to 1950.
    and
    (2)
    Edward V. Long
    (1908-1972)
    Long
    served as
    a United States Senator from
    1960 to 1968. He also served as the 36th
    Lieutenant Governor of Missouri. Before that,
    he was a member of the Missouri State Senate
    from 1945 to 1955.
    This is a First Day of Issue envelope, honoring the late
    President John F. Kennedy, on the occasion of what would
    have been his 47th birthday, on May 29, 1967. The envelope
    was postmarked in Boston.
