Vintage 8” Betsy McCall Doll “At the Zoo” by American Character..
This darling Betsy has a flawless  face with Rosy cheeks, perfect mouth.
Her sleep eyes open and close easily.
She has her original light brown 1960  silkier texture Vinyl skull cap wig, in the original set, with 2 original barrettes.
Body: no crotch split. Original crotch sealing.  I bought this doll in 1991 and her crotch  has been stable for 30 years! She has no knee splits.
All her fingers are perfect. She flexes  at shoulders, hips and knees and all joints hold a pose.
Clothes: She is wearing the outfit #9151 “At the Zoo”, made from 1960-1963. It originally came on a Bubble Pack and  consists of an orange cotton dress with white soutache trim and black tights  with black vinyl side closure shoes. The dress is clean, never washed, with no  flaws or spots, and a single snap back closure.
The tights fit her well with a tiny tuck I  took in the waistline. She wears her original Betsy black vinyl side fastening  shoes, however, the right shoe loop has a slit and does not close over the shoe  knob. This shoe flaw is really her only problem.
She is the very doll pictured on page146 of the book “American Character Dolls” by Judy Izen in 2004.
She shines!
